Joint Replacement and Joint Preservation Procedures

With guidance of MRI, Dr Raj is poised to prevent unnecessary total joint replacements, aims to preserve joints through interventional procedures, promote cartilage and soft tissue healing. Partial joint replacement in the knee is a high precision procedure which aims to optimise the function of degenerated joint and correct malalignment with minimally invasive surgery ensuring quick and satisfying recovery.

Cartilage replacement procedures and marrow decompression help relieve inflammatory process and retard degeneration which has started in joints following trauma/falls.

Total knee replacements are done with breeze, with a preoperative and postoperative protocol, ensuring patients regain good range of motion and early joint stability. All patients walk as early as 3 to 8 hours after surgery with optimal pain control protocols, even in bilateral knee surgeries.
Individual therapists are assigned with protocols suited to each knee condition to ensure near 100 percent recovery of strength and stability by 3 to 4 weeks.

Dr Raj also has experience and training in shoulder replacement; reverse shoulder replacement is the latest method to treat the arthritic shoulder joint in advanced degenerative arthritis and rotator cuff tendinopathy.

Robotic Joint Surgery – Partial and Total Knee Replacement

Embrace the new technology in knee replacement surgery – this new technique has been in practice in Malaysia since 2022 where the knee is resurfaced according to the native knee state with high precision ensuring early recovery and less pain.

Dr Raj uses robotic assisted knee replacement technology developed from the USA. He has undergone stringent training in India where he learnt the application of few robots under supervision of renowned surgeons that have experience in robotic arthroplasty for past 12 years. As for the latest,

Dr Raj is keen to apply the robotic assisted partial knee replacement which ensures high precision and satisfaction, improved longevity of surgery and near complete recovery of patient by 7 to 10 days.

Joint Realignment Procedures

Knee pain can also originate from unexplained synovitis, focal cartilage injury, irritation of nerve root and malalignment of joint line. Dr Raj uses specialised injection techniques to assist you in relieving the joint inflammation, unloading joint compartment and correcting a malaligned joint.

High tibial osteotomy and proximal fibula osteotomies are among the joint preservation surgery techniques that help to unload the arthritic joints, slow down inflammation and help in joint realignment, hopefully negating the need of knee replacement later.

Targeted joint therapy methods (ultrasound or X-ray guided joint decompression) and treatment of focal cartilage loss with subchondroplasty are among other ways to retard inflammation induced cartilage destruction. Immunobiologic substances are applied to selectively strengthen weakened joint structures and improve joint proprioception.
